The 100% factory-assembled airframe is equipped with a reliable electric power system, receiver, and servos. The HobbyZone XCub 450mm is a scale replica of the popular XCub by CubCrafters, which is the safest and most extensively tested adventure airplane ever! It’s also an upgraded and modern iteration of the Super Cub and the classic J-3 Cub that came before it – which was one of the most popular trainer aircraft designed before WWII. That’s a big part of why the XCub 450mm makes learning to fly radio controlled (RC) airplanes in more places and smaller spaces easy and fun! Its ultra-micro size makes it an ideal choice for a smaller trainer model that can be flown in large yards, parks, soccer fields, and other suitable spaces where larger models can’t typically be flown successfully by first-time pilots. Best of all, it’s equipped with Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope (SAFE) technology that helps to prevent overcontrol, loss of orientation, and crashes so nearly everyone can learn to fly successfully! Beginner, Intermediate, and Experienced flight modes allow you to choose the level of stability and control you need, or are ready to try, at the flip of a switch.
And the fun doesn’t stop while or after you learn how to fly! The lightweight yet extremely durable EPP airframe is equipped with a powerful electric motor that delivers long flight times and provides plenty of speed and power to perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, and even inverted (upside down) flight in the Experienced mode. Or, if you’re not ready to perform aerobatics on your own, the XCub can automatically perform single or even multiple loops or rolls in the Beginner or Intermediate flight modes with just a quick press of the “Aerobatics” button and by moving the control stick in the desired direction!
This Ready-To-Fly (RTF) model includes everything needed to fly in one box and is a perfect choice if you’re a new RC pilot. From the 5-channel 2.4GHz controller/transmitter and the AA batteries for it, to the two 1S 400mAh rechargeable Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries and a convenient charger that can be used with a variety of USB power sources, there’s nothing extra you need to buy or provide! This Ready-To-Fly (RTF) model includes a controller/transmitter equipped with 2.4GHz technology and everything else you need to fly including AA batteries for the transmitter, two rechargeable lithium polymer batteries for the airplane, and a USB charger. That means there’s nothing extra to buy or provide so you can fly, which also makes it an unbeatable value!
Fully Finished
The XCub 450mm arrives 100% factory-finished in a fully-painted trim scheme based on the full-scale XCub from CubCrafters. It’s also fully factory-assembled and ready to fly right out of the box. That means you can be flying in just the time it takes to charge the battery!
Durable Design
The unique “pop off” prop saver design plus construction with advanced EPP material delivers a lightweight yet incredibly durable airframe that’s tough enough to handle everyday flying punishment without getting bent out of shape. A spare propeller is included, and in the unfortunate event you damage any airframe parts or components and can’t repair them, a replacement airframe and spare parts are readily available.
Capable Gear
Taxi over, take off from, and land on smooth surfaces using the included landing gear plus steerable tailwheel. Or, leave the landing gear off to easily hand launch over then land on grass or other suitable surfaces.
Learn to Fly Successfully with SAFE® Technology
If this is your first RC airplane, the included SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents overcontrol and crashes. It also offers multiple flight modes to deliver more control and capabilities at the flip of a switch as your skills progress:
Beginner Mode
In this flight mode, the airplane has pitch (up/down) and bank (left/right) angle limits that prevent overcontrol which could lead to a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are released, the airplane automatically returns to level flight allowing you to relax and enjoy simply ‘steering’ the airplane through the sky. Best of all, takeoffs are as simple as giving full throttle and letting the airplane fly off a suitable surface, or by giving it a quick hand launch over surfaces such as grass. And landings are as easy as lowering the throttle and letting it glide to a landing on its own!
Intermediate Mode
This flight mode allows more freedom in pitch and bank but still prevents significant overcontrol and the airplane returns to level flight on its own more slowly than it does in the Beginner mode. This allows you to make tighter turns and to climb and descend faster as your skills advance.
Experienced Mode
In this flight mode there are no pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns, and more.
Automatic Aerobatics Mode
The fun doesn’t stop while you learn how to fly! Even if you’re not ready to perform aerobatics on your own, the XCub can automatically perform single or multiple loops or rolls in the Beginner and Intermediate flight modes with just a quick press of the “Aerobatics” button and by moving the control stick in the desired direction.
