Description

The Gjøa was the first ship that managed to traverse the Northwest Passage.
The expedition was formed by Roald Amundsen and six other companions.
He left Oslo in 1903, and arrived in San Francisco Bay in 1906.
 
History the Gjøa was built in 1872 in Rosendal, on the banks of the Hardanger fjord, by Knut johannesson Naes. It was a small boat of 47 tons, manageable between the Arctic ice.
In its early years it was used for fishing in the Atlantic herring and seals in the waters of the Arctic Ocean. In 1901 it was acquired by the Arctic explorer Roald Amundsen, who did so to reinforce structurally, command you put an auxiliary engine 13 HP, fuel tanks and a breaks ice in bow.
The Northwest Passage expedition left Oslo on June 16, 1903. Its objective, complete the route of the Northwest Passage and measurements to locate the magnetic north pole.
Towards the end of summer they found a natural harbor in King William Island, this Bay was a perfect enclave, 18-month expedition was installed there conducting scientific research.
Among other things, they found that the magnetic north pole is not a fixed point. On August 13, 1905, they resumed their March towards the West, the poor weather conditions forced the expedition to spend a winter near the mouth of the Mackenzie River.
Finally on July 10, 1906 the Gjøa crosses the Bering Strait, arriving at San Francisco on October 19, 1906. The Gjøa is preserved in Oslo, on the outside of the Fram Museum.
 
It contains the traditional construction kit. It's a boat of wood and metal, scale 1:64.
Hollow town with false keel and laser cut ribs.
Parts pre-cut wood, turning brass and pieces in casting for details. Presented in a luxury box with all components classified and sorted for easy location.
 
Book of instructions in 7 languages: Spanish, English, French, German, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese. Detailed instructions with photos of the step of the Assembly. It also includes a map with all the sights and details needed for its construction.
